What's a Podcast?
Podcasting is a web based broadcasting medium for distributing media files automatically. A podcast (like Twist1) is comparable to an audio magazine subscription in that the subscriber receives regular programs that he/she can listen to or view at his/her own leisure. You can also think of podcasting as the equivalent of a DVR (digital video recorder) such as TiVo, that allows you to automatically record and store television programs for viewing at a later time. Most often podcasting involves audio files in MP3 format, but different formats and other types of files, such as video, can also be Podcasted.
One thing to note is that an iPod, MP3 player is NOT needed for podcasting. You can listen to the audio on your computer just as you would any MP3. In fact, with our feeds you don't even need podcast software. Just click the feed link and download the show you want directly.
If you decide you want to listen to a show every time it comes out, you might consider using a podcasting client. You subscribe to content you want by visiting the web site and getting the podcast URL. Your podcast software automatically downloads any new shows and can copy them to your MP3 player. There's always something new and interesting to listen to and you never have to check the web to see when a new show is available. A few options are listed below.
