Hybrid Golf clubs: See If They Are they Right For You

We have all seen the growing trend of more and more golfers using hybrid golf clubs, and you might find yourself wondering if they are for you. Well, I am here to tell you there are a lot more reasons for you to add hybrid golf clubs to your bag than there are to not add them.

The first question usually is, why? Well, the simple answer to that is hybrid golf clubs are easier and more forgiving to use than long irons. Long irons are widely considered the hardest clubs to hit accurately. Imagine, you are standing close to 200 yards from the green. Sand in front of the green, maybe on more than one side of it. Water may be in play as well. can you confidently put a swing on the ball with your 3 or 4 iron that will NOT end up in trouble a high percentage of the time? Most casual golfers would have to say no if they were to answer honestly.

On the other hand, if you are facing the same shot with a hybrid golf club, the story is much different. Even with a poor swing, most shots will still end up better than if you had used a long iron. Now consider hitting the same shot out of the rough or a bad lie. In this situation the advantage given by hybrid golf clubs is even greater.

In the previous example, why does the hybrid result end up better? There is more than one reason for this. Anyone who has used long irons knows it is easy to miss-hit the ball. If you hit the ball fat it will likely not get much loft and will go either right or left in addition to not getting the distance you wanted. When this happens any hazards in front of you or on either side of the fairway come into play. You might get more distance if you hit the ball thin, but if you do this you are even more likely to have your ball go either right or left. If you make the same contact using a hybrid golf club, you are likely to get a much better result. The shape and size of the club head makes it more forgiving, and your shot is still likely to get good airtime and decent distance. Chances are, your ball is still alive and you will be able to play on without taking a penalty stroke.

Hybrid golf clubs are more forgiving and easier to hit than long irons. That is the simple truth. If you are on the fence about using them, you need to jump over onto the side of hybrid golf clubs. You can start using hybrid golf clubs and make absolutely zero changes to your swing. The result is likely to be a lower number on your scorecard the very first time you use your hybrids. I can’t think of any one thing you can do today that will make tomorrow’s golf score lower. That is a powerful statement and the only real reason you need to add hybrid golf clubs to your bag today!
